So, it goes on to speak about a man named Arthur Stace. He lived in Australia (1884-1967) and is know as Mr. Eternity.
He heard a sermon in 1932 by John Ridley, who spoke on the subject of eternity. “You’re on your way somewhere, brother. You’re on your way somewhere, sister. And God made you to long for that place that you’re headed for.”
Stace was so moved by Ridley’s words that he decided to write the word Eternity in chalk on the streets of Sydney and beyond, and he did so for the rest of his life. Every morning Arthur Stace would get up and have a cup of tea, a little bit of time in the Word, and then he’d go out onto the streets of Sydney with a piece of chalk. Eternity began to appear all over town. People would wake up in the morning and they’d walk down the street and there in chalk would be the word. Eternity. And it was so arresting to people that they felt strangely encouraged if they saw the words scrawled on sidewalks and buildings.
Until 1956, people did not know who was doing the writing.
He wrote the word over 500,000 times.
